A Brown Roof Explained
A Brown Roof is often constructed using the rubble and earth cleared from a site to create a new building. This can be placed upon the waterproofed roof and left to colonise naturally. Alternatively a suitable substrate can be placed on the roof and left to colonise or a mixture of seeds i.e. wildflower or meadow mix can be applied for a beautiful colourful display. This method is the most environmentally friendly as it will attract a wide variety of local wildlife.
